Boys and Girls 5th grade - 8th grade

BRYC Travel Basketball is offered to players looking to  develop higher level basketball skills in a competitive environment. BRYC gives players with an advanced skill level the chance to participate in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League (FCYBL). The travel program requires a greater time commitment from participants for practices and games.

Who can play:

Boys and girls 4th grade through 8th grade are eligible to try out for the travel league. All players must reside in Fairfax County.

What is the cost: $285

The cost for participating in the BRYC Travel program is $285 per player. This includes uniforms, 22+ games, 25+ practices and equipment. That's less than $6 a session. This also includes tournament fees for both holiday tournaments.  No scholarships are available for travel basketball.

How are teams formed:

All players interested in playing on a BRYC travel league team must attend tryouts. Teams will be formed based upon the players grade level for that season and talent level. As long as participants are no more than two (2) years older than others in his/her grade as of September 1 then he/she can play at grade level. All players will be expected to provide documentation of his/her current grade level (a report card works well) once selected for a team.

Tryouts are held in early October. Tryout dates, times and locations are posted on this website.

There is no need to pre-register for tryouts; rosters are kept at each tryout.

Players are selected based on experience and talent level. There are a limited number of select spots and those

not assigned to a team are encouraged to register in the BRYC Recreation League.

Practices are held twice a week, normally on week nights. Each practice is 60-90 minutes long depending on gym availability.

One to two (1-2) games are normally played per week. League games can be held on both weekends and week nights. The Thanksgiving tournament is 4 games and the Holiday tournament is 4 games. Playoff games are also possible depending on team record.

Where are games played:

Games are scheduled at gyms throughout Fairfax County. FCYBL is responsible for organizing the travel schedule.
